Zion Williamson Jordan Brand Deal: Nike welcomes Williamson to the Jordan Brand family
It was announced today that Zion Williamson was signed by Nike to a multi-year endorsement contract… well, not Nike exactly, but Zion officially signed with the Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of the global shoe superpower.
“Zion’s incredible determination, character and play are inspiring,” Michael Jordan said in a statement. “He’s an essential part of the new talent that will help lead the brand into the future. He told us he would ‘shock the world,’ and asked us to believe him. We do.”
“I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of the Jordan Brand family,” Williamson said in the same Nike press release. “Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had and continues to have today. He was one of those special athletes I looked up to, and I really can’t express how happy and excited I am for this journey.”
The company has a stable of NBA superstars that endorse Nike. And Nike also is the official jersey provider for the NBA.
Williamson’s deal has been reported as a seven years – $75 million dollar contract. Clearly Williamson has forgiven Nike for his shoes exploding on the court earlier this year in a match up against the North Carolina Tar Heels; choosing the Jordan Brand over rivals such as Adidas and Under Armour and reportedly a full-court press by PUMA.
